Job Safety Analysis Sheet, Job Description: De-spading, Sequence Of Basic Job Steps: Pre – Work, Work, Precautions: Plan The Work Involving Personnel Responsible For Preparation Of The Pipeline Or Equipment To Be De-spaded. Obtain The Required Work Permit. Conduct Tool Box Talk. Identify the correct flange / joist to be de-spaded. Ensure the identity from P & ID and Spade Record Register.Ensure the upstream & downstream valves are still closed. Asses the risk & Override the gas detectors if required. Carry out gas test for safe working area. Confirm isolation valve integrity by crack opening the nearest vent / drain point. Verify the work area is gas free. Use non sparking tools & brass hammer in hazardous location. Check the work area is free from toxic vapor. Crack open one bolt / stud to confirm no pressure. Use air line unit if required. Use safety goggles. Loosen the bolts / studs slowly.
Use correct type of tools to open & hold the flange. Remove the spade safely. Install compatible rating gasket before tightening the flange. Ensure the flanges are tightened securely. Ensure erection of secured scaffolding at properly leveled ground. Use safety harness. Remove the tag with the spade. Log the details in Spade Record Register.
